The pillars of the House of Lean

are the systematic elimination of waste, the respect of people, and the constant striving for improvement, ideally leading to perfection.

The systematic elimination of waste, otherwise known as kaizen, is at the center of the House of Lean. It is a relentless, continuous search for opportunities to improve anything and everything including processes, information, products, services, office spaces, ideas, and methods, among others. Kaizen encourages collaborating with team members to develop, test, and implement improvements in order to work smarter and achieve more.

Respect for people is another pillar of the House of Lean. This respect comes in the form of the belief that everyone has the capability and skill to contribute to the continuous improvement of an organization. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and should have opportunities for learning and growth.

The continual striving for improvement is the last pillar of the House of Lean. The goal is to strive for perfection, even if it is not attainable. This improvement can take the form of incremental changes, as well as large changes that make the organization more efficient and productive.

Together, these three pillars of the House of Lean make up the driving force behind any lean organization. They combine to create an environment of continuous learning and improvement, while inspiring respect and collaboration among team members.
